Presented by Opera Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and Radio Television Hong Kong, our school choir was invited to join among the 10000 chorus of different local schools and choirs in the mega youth music event “Ode to Joy -- Concert of Ten Thousand” on 6 December 2014 at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The event was to break the Guinness World Records: Most People Singing Live on a Radio Broadcast by singing a new Cantonese version of “Ode to Joy”. The event gathered passionate music professionals, including renowned opera singers including Warren Mok, pop singers Alfred Hui and C All Star, music producer Chiu Tsang Hei (趙增熹), with the accompaniment of Global Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Mr Mak Ka Lok. The concert involves multimedia videos and performances of various genres to highlight the journey of growing up through classical music, including selection from Bizet’s opera Carmen, “Do Re Mi” from the musical The Sound of Music, and the highlight of the event, “Ode to Joy” from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Our school choir was honoured to be visited by prestigious guests and coached by famous musicians beforehand in support of the event.
